How’s been Christmas?

Is it a bit late for this question? Well…it might well be, but since Christmas’s Eve I’ve been busy with my Christmas present- Billie Joe! Oh, no no :D Not Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day! OMG! Imagine what a present would that have been :| So as to clarify things, Billie Joe is my black acoustic guitar, the one I had been desiring for for quite a long time :) It is made in Romania, by a producer called Hora, and it seems to be pretty good quality. So far it’s been going…acceptable for a beginner :D I’ve already managed to switch chords while still keeping the rhythm, and I learned to play (although nothing sounds too great  ) the intro of ‘Wake me up when September ends’ (I think that’s my best performance), ‘Good Riddance’, the verse of ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, and ‘Brain Stew’ -all by Green Day, the first part of the intro of ‘Californication’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers, and ‘Ode to Joy’ b-) In my opinion, this is okay for a 4 days guitar player :) Also, the skin on my fingertips has toughened enough so I don’t feel the strings slashing through my skin as much as I was feeling as the beginning. But it’s an awkward sensation when I finger other objects, as it feels like so: the toughened skin layer, then a layer of liquid and only when I press harder am I able to feel my actual finger, like I do with the other hand 0.o

I know I’ve done pretty much nothing for the site during this holiday, whose end is approaching with tremendous speed, and I’m obviously disappointed of myself :( Dunno… let’s just hope the new year will bring ‘Summerhugs’ prosperity and more allocated time ^^ Should I write about the resolutions for 2010 now? Uhmm..actually I don’t feel like :D I’d rather go and practice ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’ with the pick a little :P Oh, does anyone have some tips on strumming the guitar? Cause I feel like I’m not doing it right, as it sounds a bit weird. With the pick it sounds too loud and like pressing against metal bars, and with the fingers it can barely be heard :| Well, I hope it will improve in time :)

Snow!

Yeah, you’re right! It’s snowing! Yaaay! It started last night, and it has continued for the entire day so far. Nevertheless, it started snowing even more heavily now. I just hope it won’t suddenly transform into a huge slough because of an unpredicted wave of warmer temperatures 8-| Another point of the good news’ list is that school is officially over now, and Christmas holiday officially on! b-) Although, I could’ve called it holiday since Friday, because we didn’t do too much at school on that day. Except for the always-on-duty Logic teacher, who even gave us a test on Friday. No, I’m not kidding or overstating things, she really is kind of a paranoid 0.o Overall, the first half of the freshman year has been actually better than I expected. Today I had a meeting with my ex-class and my ex-teacher, and most of them were saying that they had also taken some quite low marks, did not get on so well with their new classmates, and I realised that I’m lucky: I’ve taken only high marks so far, and I’m super getting along with my classmates. Every weekend we hang out in a pub or something, we’re celebrating the New Year’s Eve together at one’s restaurant, and so on.

Uh, I hope that now, that holiday has just started, I’ll have more time for the site. I hope, but I don’t promise though :P Today, mom brought me a Photoshop book I had been asking for a long from her school’s library. She said there was also another book, a more advanced one, but the librarian gave her this is for Photoshop 7 and it only contains some text effects, and basic instructions. Even though, I may post some of the tutorial on the site. I guess they may be interesting :)

Well, I guess that’s it. I don’t have too much left to say, and even so I know that not too many persons will read this blog, so it’s fairly enough :D I’ve got a serious job of leaving comments to do in the next day, as well as retouching some sections of the site and lots of others, so yeah, blogging isn’t the main objective these days :P

As I had promised you in one of my latest blogs, I am now making a review of everything that has happened in my life during that period specified in the title. But firstly, I reckon I should tell you that I’m having and extended week-end (actually a doubled one :D ) because on 1st of December is the National Day of Romania, and as every year, we’ve been given a day off + because is it on a Tuesday, the Monday before it, on 5th, has also been transformed into a day off :D How lucky! ^^ Uhh, today I had the English Olympiad, and I really don’t have any predictions about the result. It’s been the first time ever when I had a subject involving a piece of writing (in this case it has been an informal letter, but in the next stage it should be a narration). So far all English Olympiads I’ve been to only had the grammar subjects. So I can’t really say how I did, because even though I might have done well the grammar subjects, I don’t have any idea about the letter part. But anyway, I’ll find out tomorrow :)

So here are the main events:

Freshmen Prom-22 October
Every high school organises each year a Prom for the students in the freshman year (9th grade). Although all the other students have access, only freshman can participate in the Miss&Mister contest that is organised. This year, both winners (miss and mister) were from my class, and also girls’ 2nd place and boys’ 3rd place were my classmates :) We really have a beautiful class, don’t we? b-) There’s been a lot of rumour around the winner of the Miss title, which I found soooo unfair. But you know, when people lose, they tend to find reasons why they didn’t win, and how unfortunate the circumstances were for them 8-| I think that everyone should accept defeat, and shouldn’t say that the opponent won by unfair ways. But anyway, this is not the point. Overall, the party was pretty interesting, except for the super crowded space. We left before the prom had finished, and went somewhere else, where we really had a…hectic time :| Although I had had a few shots before, I wasn’t the one who completely caught the spotlight. Someone became very ‘kissable’ that night 8-| Uh…whatever. It doesn’t matter anymore. Fortunately our high school’s Prom hasn’t been postponed because of the swine flu, like others have. Here are some photos:

Halloween Party-28 October
This was really great! A lot greater than the Freshman Prom, where, honestly, I kinda got bored. I was great not only because of the costumes, but the atmosphere itself. There was a costume contest, but unfortunately I didn’t take part in. And also the people that were there were more of my style: in the end of the party a boy played the guitar, and played ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Good Riddance’ which really made me feel in love with him…haah..but only for that night :P I forgot to tell you about what I dressed in, didn’t I? Well, I dressed like Lady Gaga, and in my opinion, the costume turned out really nice :) I guess I kinda resembled her :P And no, I didn’t dress like her because I like her, but to emphasize the fact that she’s always dressed as if she celebrated Halloween >:) I’m really mean, aren’t I? Actually most of the costumes were quite original and imaginative. In order to name some, I should specify: Cruella de Vil, Marilyn Manson, The Joker, Mr. and Ms. Smith, The Phantom of the Opera, Hamlet, Captain Jack Sparrow, The Mad Escaped, Michael Jackson (RIP! :( ), and many many others. The winner was nothing really extraordinary, though: The Death Bride. Such a damn common idea…duh! But anyway, the 2nd place was well deserved: Michael Jackson. What a pity nobody recorded that boy while dancing, cause Dorian really dances like Michael!

Trip to Sibiu-31st Oct to 1st Nov
It’s been surprising how rapidly we managed to organise this trip. Sibiu is a city in the heart of the Carpatian Mountains, which has been the European Capital of Culture for a year, during 2007, and is a fairly nice city, my favourite Romanian city I can say, because you don’t even feel like in Romania there :D But the main reason we organised this trip wasn’t visiting, but having fun. Actually fun transformed into drinks&drugs, which would have spelled ‘d i s a s t e r’ if our teacher hadn’t been so…so…absent o.0 At 2 o’clock in the night she finally opened her room door to tell us in a sleepy voice to make a bit less noise. Imagine how ‘effective’ that was, when everybody on that floor was drunk, and all those on the upper floor was high on drugs 0.o But it doesn’t matter, as long as she told another class that we were so obedient b-) Loool! If that means obedient, I don’t want to know what disobedient means :| No really, I don’t. Except for having to take care of all my drunk and high friends, we also did a lot of shopping :D Visiting/sight seeing was on the third place :P

Bonus!Adventurous Truancy-20 Nov
Yes, this is a so-called bonus story, as it doesn’t fit in the period listed in the title, but it’s an interesting and breath-taking story :-s So let me start with the beginning. On 20 November we were supposed to have your English term paper (whose results will be hopefully brought back to us after Christmas, in order to keep the consistency of the X-mas present at a high level  ). We though that after the term paper would have finished, we might sneak out from the school in a subtle way. But, as always, our plan was baffled by some persons who would rather betray than skip classes. While we were trying to sneak out, some refused to leave the classroom, and while another group was desperately trying to persuade them to get their bags and leave, the Logic teacher (which is quite a paranoid when it comes to skipping her classes) arrived. Meanwhile, the other half of the class (including me), was in the school yard trying to figure out a method to sneak out, as the porter wouldn’t let 15 students leave the high school by the main entrance. The fence used to have a hole last year, but now it was covered back. So the only way out was OVER the high fence. At first I was a bit concerned about the height of the jump, but then I decided to commit. While I was standing in line and waiting for my time to jump over, a man passed by on the street. Laura was on the top of the fence when that man asked what we were doing there. He turned out to be from the police department :| We (those still in the school yard) ran as fast as possible and hide among some 10th grade students who where having the P.E. class. While we were staying there, we saw that man leading the girl he caught along the street, either to the police station or back into the school. At that moment, we frightened, literally :| The next hour, we returned into the school, and found out that the police men had taken our mate to the principal’s office, had made her to write the names of all those who were trying to sneak out with her. Luckily enough, the girl had forgotten that I was there too, so my name wasn’t on the list. The next class, the policeman came to our classroom together with our form teacher, and lectured us about how we should not skip classes again.

Another headline would be the swine flu, due to which some high schools have been closed. Unfortunately, mine hasn’t :( I say ‘unfortunately’ because a week off school would have been really welcomed :D
